In a world where birthday wishes arrive by text and invitations land in inboxes, Hollis Gallagher believes there is still something special about a piece of paper chosen, personalized, and sent with care.
Through Soirée All Day Co., her Charleston-based stationery and paper goods brand, Gallagher is bringing that feeling back with a colorful, playful approach to a tradition that never really goes out of style. Think bold patterns, unexpected color combinations, whimsical illustrations, and thoughtful details that make even an everyday note feel worth keeping.
From personalized stationery and custom invitations to gift tags and mahjong accessories, each design reflects Gallagher’s belief that the little things deserve a little celebration, too. Her path to entrepreneurship was not exactly planned.
After returning to Charleston from San Diego, losing her marketing job during the height of the pandemic, and preparing to welcome her first daughter, Gallagher found herself at a crossroads. What began as a creative outlet during her daughter’s naps eventually became a business that brings together her background in graphic design, her love of making things, and the Southern traditions that have shaped her sense of home.
Today, Soirée All Day Co. is an extension of Gallagher herself: expressive, thoughtful, a little unexpected, and always ready for a reason to celebrate.
From Graphic Design to a Business of Her Own
Before launching Soirée All Day Co., Gallagher built a career in marketing and graphic design, working with creative agencies and magazine publishers. She returned to Charleston with her husband from San Diego just as the pandemic was upending everyday life. Six or seven months pregnant and newly laid off, she began taking on freelance marketing projects while revisiting an idea she had carried for years: creating a business of her own.
After her daughter arrived, Gallagher started designing digital invitation templates during nap time and selling them on Etsy. It was a natural way to reconnect with her creative roots while exploring what running an independent business might look like. About a year into designing digital templates, she realized the part she loved most was not necessarily the invitation itself. It was the paper. “
There’s something so special about receiving a beautiful piece of mail,” she says. “Someone took the time to choose it, personalize it, address it, put a stamp on it, and send it just for you.” That thought became central to the business.
In an increasingly digital world, Gallagher wanted to make things people could hold, use, give, and keep. The result was a growing collection of paper goods designed to make everyday correspondence and life’s milestones feel more personal. Of course, being her own boss means doing far more than designing.
Gallagher handles everything from production artwork and photography to marketing, social media, sales, and website management. Bookkeeping, she admits, is the hat she wears most reluctantly. Still, the opportunity to build something around her love of creating, while maintaining flexibility for her family, has made the experience deeply rewarding.
A Maximalist Approach to Southern Design
Gallagher describes her aesthetic as “maximalist with traditional roots,” a combination that feels right at home in Charleston. She appreciates the timelessness of traditional design but enjoys pushing it in unexpected directions through bold colors, layered patterns, vintage-inspired details, and playful
combinations.
Her style has evolved alongside her personally. As she has grown more comfortable with who she is, she has also become more confident in letting that personality show up in her work.
“For a while, I think I was designing things I thought people would want to buy rather than things that truly reflected me,” she says. “Lately, I’ve really embraced my own aesthetic.”
That shift has given Soirée All Day a distinctive point of view. The designs feel rooted in familiar Southern traditions without being overly formal or predictable. Classic motifs meet fresh palettes, traditional stationery gets a whimsical twist, and decorative details are given room to stand out.
Gallagher is especially interested in experimenting with unexpected color combinations, interesting shapes, and die-cut edges that make a piece feel like a small work of art in its own right.
It is a philosophy that extends beyond paper. In the same way a thoughtfully layered interior can balance traditional furnishings with a surprising color or pattern, Gallagher’s designs show how familiar forms can feel entirely new when approached with personality. How Charleston and the Lowcountry Inspire Her Work
Charleston is more than home for Gallagher. It is a constant source of creative inspiration. The city’s architecture, gardens, marshes, oysters, magnolias, and coastal details all find their way into her designs. But while the visual landscape provides plenty of ideas, it is the culture surrounding it that has perhaps made the greatest impression.
Gallagher is drawn to the thoughtfulness woven into everyday life here: bringing a hostess gift, setting a beautiful table, sending a handwritten thank-you note, or inviting friends over for dinner and using the nice wine glasses just because. These gestures may seem small, but they reflect a larger idea about hospitality. Celebrations do not always require a major milestone or an elaborate gathering. Sometimes, the most meaningful moments are the ordinary ones made special through a little extra care. “That’s what I hope my designs encourage people to do: celebrate the little things and find joy in the details,” she says. That philosophy feels especially fitting in a city where entertaining, gathering, and marking life’s milestones remain important parts of the culture.
From a handwritten note tucked into a gift to a set of personalized cards ready for the next birthday, Soirée All Day offers ways to make those gestures feel more intentional. It is also a natural extension of Charleston’s independent creative community, where artists and small businesses bring their own interpretations of Southern style to everything from interiors to everyday objects. From Hand-Painted Artwork to Finished Paper Goods
Behind every Soirée All Day product is a process that begins with an idea. Sometimes Gallagher has a particular product in mind; other times, it starts with a pattern, a piece of artwork, or simply a color combination she cannot stop thinking about.
She may paint or illustrate the artwork herself, or collaborate with another artist. From there, she brings the individual elements together into a larger design or collection, experimenting with layouts, colors, patterns, and scale until everything feels right.
The creative process eventually gives way to the practical work of preparing production files,
photographing products, creating website listings, setting prices, and marketing the finished collection. That combination of artistic instinct and technical execution is what allows a design to move from an initial spark to something tangible. It also explains why Gallagher enjoys the opportunity to work with clients on custom pieces. She loves the challenge of translating someone else’s vision into a finished product that feels personal to them.
Over time, those commissions have become about much more than design.
Customers have invited Gallagher into some of their happiest moments, including baby showers, birth announcements, birthdays, and annual holiday card traditions. When a customer returns year after year, she gets to watch families grow through their photographs and milestones, even if they have never met in person.
“Knowing that something I’ve created becomes a small part of another family’s memories and traditions is incredibly special to me,” she says. It is a reminder that paper goods often become keepsakes not because they are elaborate, but because of what they represent.
Family, Friendship, and the Stories Behind the Collections
Some of Gallagher’s favorite designs are meaningful for the people who helped bring them to life.
Her Oyster Collection, one of the brand’s best-selling collections, features original painted artwork by her mother, a professional artist who has taught art for more than 40 years. Gallagher credits her mother with first inspiring her love of creating, making the collection a particularly personal connection between family, art, and the Lowcountry.

Oysters are also a natural fit for Charleston, where they are closely associated with coastal life and gathering around the table. The collection brings those influences together in a way that feels both personal and distinctly local.
Another favorite project came through a collaboration with Cara Kozik, a San Francisco-based artist and one of Gallagher’s oldest friends. The two have known each other since middle school, spending their younger years cutting up magazines, making collages, sewing clothes, painting, and dreaming up creative projects. After years of talking about working together professionally, they finally made it happen. Kozik illustrated a whimsical cast of holiday characters, which Gallagher translated into holiday cards, gift tags, and a mahjong mat.
The collaboration was a chance to revisit a friendship built around making things together while introducing a new creative perspective to the Soirée All Day collection. For Gallagher, these projects represent one of the most rewarding parts of owning the business: bringing different creative voices together and seeing how their ideas can become something new.
Mahjong, Meaningful Gatherings, and a Little Friendly Competition
One of Soirée All Day’s most distinctive offerings is its collection of mahjong accessories, including mats,
stationery, and coordinating gift tags.
Gallagher was initially drawn to mahjong for the opportunity it creates to spend meaningful time with friends. Her regular game nights have become standing dates on the calendar, offering a few hours when everyone puts their phones away and focuses on the people around the table.
The visual appeal of the game was another draw. Gallagher loves the colorful tiles, racks, and mats, and she saw an opportunity to bring her design sensibility to an activity that is as much about gathering as it is about playing.
Her mahjong mats are paired with coordinating stationery and gift tags, allowing the same aesthetic to carry from the game table to the notes and gifts that accompany it.
But there is an even more personal reason these pieces matter to her. Gallagher looks at the mats she has designed and the tile sets she has collected as potential future heirlooms. Her two young daughters already enjoy sitting at the table with her and are beginning to take an interest in learning the game.
She likes imagining that one day she will pass those pieces down to them, along with the memories and traditions attached to them.
It is an idea that connects the mahjong collection to the rest of her work. Whether it is a personalized notecard, a gift tag, or a beautifully designed mat, the object itself is only part of the story. The people who use it, the occasions it accompanies, and the memories it collects are what give it lasting meaning.

What’s Next for Soirée All Day Co.?
Looking ahead, Gallagher is excited to continue collaborating with other artists and bringing their work into the collection.
She also plans to lean further into the elements that have come to define her style: more color, more pattern, more personality, and more playful interpretations of traditional stationery. She is continually dreaming up new ways to translate artwork into different products, with a running list of ideas that is probably longer than she will ever be able to tackle. For a designer who has built a business
around making things, that abundance of ideas is part of the appeal.
The next collection might begin with a painting, an unexpected color combination, or an idea that simply refuses to leave her head. Whatever form it takes, the goal remains the same: to create something beautiful that encourages people to connect with one another.
For someone discovering the brand, Gallagher recommends starting with personalized stationery. It is a practical, everyday way to bring a little more intention to the act of communicating, whether the occasion calls for a thank-you note, a birthday message, or a letter sent for no particular reason at all.
“I think you’ll find that you get just as much joy out of writing and sending a thoughtful note as the person who receives it,” she says.
It is a fitting expression of what Soirée All Day Co. is all about. The brand celebrates the idea that thoughtful design does not have to be reserved for life’s biggest occasions. Sometimes, a handwritten note, a beautifully wrapped gift, or a gathering around the table is more than enough reason to celebrate.
